Obituary For Phillene Annette Weets

Phillene Annette Weets, 85, of Rapid City, went to be with her Lord on July 20, 2020, after a time of declining health. Phillene was born in Norcatur, Kansas, July 30, 1934 to August Hansen and Johanna Wessels Hansen. Phillene and Jimmie D. Weets were married on January 28, 1956 in Hastings, Nebraska. She graduated, Valedictorian, from Norcatur High School in 1952, and in 1956 received her Degree as a Registered Nurse after completing her nursing studies at the Hasting Nebraska Nurses training. Phillene was a RN in Nebraska, South Carolina, North Dakota, California, and Minnesota maintaining her license until 1984. Phillene and Jimmie lived the life of a career Marine family, and therefore found themselves in different locations. While being a wife, a mother to their boys, and a nurse, she began her days reciting “This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24). Moving to Minnesota with her husband and boys, they began farming, and she used her nursing skills to help raise their farm animals, which she loved. Taking advantage of the privilege of living on the farm, she loved spending time with her hogs, chickens, goats, and even peacocks. In 1996, selling their farm, they made the move to Rapid City, South Dakota where they lived until the Lord called them home. One of her favorite pastimes was reading the Bible and memorizing Scriptures. All over the house, pieces of paper were tacked to the walls, mirrors, and cabinets to remind her of the strength found in the Word of God. Now she is face to face with the author and finisher of her faith. Phillene is survived by her two sons, JD of Rochester, Minnesota, Randy (Donna) of Panama City, Panama, 6 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, 1 step-granddaughter, 4 great grandchildren, 3 step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 3 brothers, and an infant son. She will be greatly missed!
