Obituary For Phillip Raymond Crackel

Philip Raymond Crackel, 63, Rapid City, was born to Raymond (Barney) and Mary Betty (Snethen) Crackel on February 15, 1957 in Huron, SD. He lived on a farm south of Ree Heights until the family moved to Ree Heights after his father died. They later moved to Miller, SD. He graduated from Miller High School in 1975. He then attended South Dakota Mines and Technology with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He worked at several jobs until finding his vocation as an insurance agent for Combined Insurance which lasted many years until he was diagnosed with cancer. He always enjoyed visiting with the many customers he encountered in his job. Philip was a friendly guy who never met a person he couldn’t visit with. He was an avid reader. When he was in High School he often would check out 6 books a night from the library and stay up all night reading so he could return them the next day. Church was an important part of his life, and he was very active in the worship service there. Philip is survived by his sister Pat of Miller, SD, his brother Bob (Andrea) of Minot, ND, nephew Levi of Minot, ND, his aunt Della Snethen of Springfield, SD and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jim, maternal grandparents Harry and Edith Snethen, paternal grandparents, Joe and Pearl Crackel, uncles Wayne Crackel and Harry Snethen and aunts Ida Crackel and Louisa Crackel.
