Obituary For Phyllis Marie Salyers
Phyllis Marie Salyers of Rapid City, SD gained her angel wings on Saturday, May 22, 2021 in Rapid City, SD. Phyllis was born in Boonville, MO. to J E and Edith (Land) Crawford on April 3, 1945. At the age 14 years old, Phyllis contracted polio that left her with many challenges that she was always able to overcome. Her strength and determination were an inspiration to everyone that knew her. Phyllis married Richard Salyers on August 4, 1962. She was a homemaker caring for her 4-childern (PLUS all their friends) for many years. As an adult, Phyllis returned to education, received her GED, and then started working as a seamstress at a factory in Boonville, MO. After moving to Rapid City, SD, she worked at Magnetic Peripherals Inc. where she assembled computer boards. She also worked with her husband Richard at his mobile home repair business by answering calls, scheduling appointments, and keeping the business’ books. She was indeed Richard’s righthand woman! Despite many other medical issues, Phyllis stayed busy with life. She loved to sew, bake and do crafting of any kind. She had a green thumb and loved her houseplants and gardening. Phyllis was one of a kind! She had the most infectious smile and laugh. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her. Phyllis is survived by her daughter Tina (Ryan) Meyer, son Shannon and daughter-in-law Barbara: Grandchildren Tasha O’Neal, Megan (Tyler) Stone, Catherine (Jesse) Salyers, Laci Salyers and Ryanna Pinkowski. Great-Grandchildren MaKayla, Brionna and Clover, Lincoln, Kaydence, Paige, Hayden, and Oakley. Sisters Joyce Hopper, Carol Smith, Debbie Braak. Brothers Jay Crawford, Denny Crawford, Terry Crawford and Jimmy Crawford. She is preceded in death and now dancing in heaven with her husband Richard and sons Rick and Troy, Father J E and Mother Edith and brother Don. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home, 632 St. Francis Street. Phyllis’ life will be celebrated 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home, 632 St. Francis Street. There will be no grave side services. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Hope Lodge at www.cancer.org/hopelodgerochestermndonate. Without their help, Phyllis’ journey would have been much harder.
