Richard A. Highley, 78, Hermosa, died Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Ft. Meade VA Medical Center.Richard was born August 1, 1932 in Beatrice, NE to Maurice O. and Nelva M.(Van Laningham) Highley. He was raised in that area until entering the military.He entered the United States Air Force on December 1, 1951 where he received numerous awards and accommodations. He retired on November 30, 1971 from the Air Force. He then made his home west of Hermosa.Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing.He is survived by his significant other, JoAnn Casey, Hermosa; children, Debbie Jones, Rapid City, Teresa Highley, Casper, WY, Kathy Highley, Newcastle, WY, Richard A. Highley, Jr., Hermosa; grandchildren, Valerie Nunes, Alex Jones, Robert Highley, Heather Aldridge, Tami Kaysen, Nicole Boltz, Mindy McCauley, great grandchildren, Emily Freytag, Ellie Kaysen; sister, Marlene Rose, Ayr, NE, brother, Lawrence Highley, Olympia, WA and the mother of his children, Lorraine Highley, Rapid City.He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Virginia Ness, Beverly George and a brother, LaVerne Highley.
