Obituary For Richard A. Myers

Richard Alan Myers, 65, of Summerset, passed away on June 11, 2023 at Monument Health Hospice House.

Rick Myers was born on December 1, 1957, in San Antonio, TX to Edward and Mary Myers. Edward served in the Air Force where they lived in Hawaii, New Mexico and settled in Rapid City, SD in 1961.

Rick attended school at Douglas High, North Jr High and graduated from Central High School in 1977. At the age of 16, he met and formed a relationship with Sue Gilles. At the age of 18, they had a daughter together, Crystal Ann Taken. After the relationship ended, he married Peggy Green. They had 4 children together, Ricky, Mandy, Lisa, and Austin. After they divorced in 1992, he went to Colorado where he lived for several years. He moved back to Rapid City in 2002. He rekindled his relationship with Sue, where they formed a strong bond and talked every day. Rick loved to hunt, fish, and go camping, but mostly he loved spending time with his best friend, Sue.

As a teen he was a mechanic at I-90 Standard. After leaving SD, he drove truck and worked in the oil field. In 1992 he took up the trade as an electrician until he became disabled from a stroke in 2010.

Rick is survived by his long-time best friend, Sue; his children, Crystal, Ricky, Mandy, Lisa and Austin; brother Don (Donna) Riddle of FL; sister, Barb (Rick) Grossman of MN, Dede Jackson of SD, Carol (Jeffrey) Rosinski of WY, Linda Myers of CA, and several nieces and nephews.

To my big brother Ricky. I'll never forget the time we spent at the garage with you teaching me how to work on cars so I'd never be stranded by some guy trying to take advantage of his Lil sis. You were always there for me and I only wish I could've been there through your pain. But it's over now and you can rest high on that mountain! You'll always be my heart, my hero and my big brother. I love you! - Posted by Linda Myers on June 24, 2023

Even though you never served our country in the armed forces you served as a pillar of strength to me. Eddie Jr. who preceded you in passing was left out of obituary but he will never be left out of our 💕 My brother not a day goes by that I don't cry for the loss of my only true family. Besides Donnie, Vickie & Jr. You were my family. You protected me from the pain others inflicted on me as a teenager. We're a lot alike in that we are both hard headed yet soft hearted. I'll miss you every day of my life. - Posted by Linda Myers-Scott on July 12, 2023
