Obituary For Richard James Scott, Sr

On Friday, November 1, 2019, Richard James Scott, Sr. walked on to the Spirit World at the age of 34.

Rick Scott, Sr., was born in Simi Valley, CA on March 4, 1985 to Michelle Scott and Terry Barnett. He spent most of his adolescence in California until 1992 when his family moved to the West Bend & Fort Thompson, South Dakota area to be closer to family. They later settled in Pierre, SD where Ricky would spend the rest of his childhood, grow up, make many lifelong friends, and go to school. Pierre is where he would meet his first love, Rebekah Bianas in 1998. From this union, three precious children were later born: Angel (who the Great Creator took to live in the Spirit World in 2004), Richard, Jr.(14), and Vincent (12).

In 2011, Ricky met and devoted the remainder of his life to his current love and lifelong partner, Chanel Big Eagle. From this union, four little blessings would emerge: Arabella (6), Leonidus (4), Lazarus (3), and Zena (1).

Ricky was a family man and was always teaching, playing, and making the best memories for his family and loved ones. He was supportive and very involved in his children’s lives. His Children were his heart and joy and he was proud of everything they did. He was a soul that had the biggest heart and would do anything for anyone. His family ALWAYS came first, followed by his friends.

Ricky worked hard to support his family and held many jobs roofing and doing manual labor. He made lasting friendships everywhere he went. Ricky was one of a kind with a great sense of humor and once you became his friend, you became his family. He was a loyal father and friend to everyone. In his sparetime, Ricky was always there to help relatives and friends with projects, he loved spending time with his family, and he enjoyed being a loyal Oakland Raiders fan.

Rick is survived by his children: Richard James Scott Jr, Vincent Matthew Scott, Leonidus Amos Scott, Lazarus John Scott, Arabella Love Scott and Zena Grace Scott; his 3 brothers: Raymond Freeman, Ryan Scott, & Matthew Hinman; his sister: Kathleen Ruesink; His Mother: Michelle Scott; His Hunka (Adopted) Mothers: Constance Gravatt & Madeline Encalada; His Hunka (Adopted) Sisters: Menia Gourneau & Shannon Spears; and several loving Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, & Nephews. He is preceded in death by his Great-Grandparents: Leon & Laura Kirkie; His Grandparents: William Gravatt, Michael Scott, Sr., & Wilhemenia Mann; his beloved daughter: Angel Constance Scott; & his cousins: Chaske Gravatt & Jessie Atkins.
