Obituary For Robert J. VanThuyne

Robert John VanThuyne, 59, of Box Elder, South Dakota, passed away peacefully at The Monument Hospital in Rapid City, South Dakota on Friday, June 5th, 2024.

Robert was born on September 20, 1964, in Billings, Montana. He grew up in Billings, Montana where he attended school. In 1988, he met the love of his life, Cathy, in Billings, Montana. They were united in marriage in 1990 and shared three sons together: John, Jeromy, and Robert.

In 2006, the family moved to Box Elder, South Dakota, to start a new chapter of their lives where he worked as a business cleaner for many years. Robert was a dedicated husband to his wife and an excellent father to his sons. The family enjoyed many adventures together, including camping, hiking, and gold panning.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Cathy (Miller) VanThuyne, Box Elder, SD; his sons, John and Robert A. VanThuyne both of Box Elder, SD; his son Jeromy (Justice) VanThuyne, Rapid City, SD; his two cherished grandchildren, Madison and Aiden VanThuyne; and his mother, Freda (Junkert) VanThuyne, Box Elder, SD.

Robert is preceded in death by his father, Robert A. VanThuyne, and his sister, Barbara (VanThuyne) Clark.

Flowers and cards can be sent to 6118 Flintlock Ct., Rapid City, SD 57703, to be brought to the memorial service.

A memorial service will take place at the lower pavilion at Robbinsdale Park at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 27th.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported Robert during his final days. He will be deeply missed by his friends and family.
