Obituary For Robert Jack Conner

Robert ‘Bob’ Jack Conner, 88, Rapid City, died Friday, November 27, 2020 at the Spearfish Canyon Healthcare. He was born January 28, 1932 in Versailles, Missouri to Jack and Lillie (Otten) Conner. He married Esther Juanita ‘Nita’ Conner on December 31, 1953 in Lee’s Summit, Missouri and they were happily married for 66 years.

He had many passions in his life; two were his wife Nita and serving on the USS Cimarron. He was very emotional about the Navy and he spoke of his memories until his passing day.

He spent many proud years working for Old Home Bakery, where he retired from. One of his favorite things to say ‘he was never turning gray, it was from all the flour he had worked with over the years in the bakery’. A couple of his catch phrases were “tonight’s the night” and “the nights still young and look how pretty I am – but my wife is still the most beautiful woman in the room.”

He also loved his Southern Comfort and squirt. Bob and Nita loved to play cribbage and cards while enjoying their Old Milwaukee and going dancing at the Moose Lodge.

Bob is survived by his children, daughter Sheila (Bob) and their children Chad (Leslee), Jeremy (Amy), Amber (Adam); daughter Shelley (David) and their children Shawna (Dennis) and Sheena; son Bob Jr (Melinda) and their daughter Amber; his baby sister Inez as well as Johnny his nephew and look-a-like; numerous other nieces and nephews; several great grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Nita; his parents Jack and Lillie; his brothers Vincent, Charles and Arnold’Preacher’ and sisters Katie, Wilma Stell, Cecil, Mary, Marty and Lita Faye.
