Obituary For Robert Minter Farmer, Jr.

Remembering the life of ….. Robert (Bob) Farmer, Jr. was born on February 15, 1962 to Ileen (Bertsch) and Robert Farmer, Sr. in Torrejon AFB, Spain. Being in a military family, he lived in New Mexico, Okinawa, Virginia and South Dakota. He graduated from Douglas High School at Ellsworth AFB. Ever since he was a little guy, he was interested in things that go fast, starting with mini-bikes and go-carts and when he got older motorcycles and even race cars. He excelled in restoration of all types of vehicles including auto body fabrication, paint and mechanical. Bob was a very hard worker. He had jobs that needed all kinds of skills, but by far his favorite was driving a tow truck. He enjoyed driving and being on the road, loved learning the stories of the wrecked vehicles and what happened to the owners. He would show you pictures of what he thought was the most interesting. For a number of years, Bob has been employed and a key player in Lightning Towing (a company based out of Sioux Falls) with their West River operations. Not only did he drive the tow truck, but was also responsible for their regular maintenance. Bob is survived by his parents Ileen and Bob, Sr., sister Tina and her husband Bill Clarke of Rapid City; daughter Kaylene and her husband Mitchell Martin and grandsons, Aydan, Jaxsen and Carter of Lincoln, Nebraska. Bob’s “Papa Farmer” time with his grandsons meant the world to him. Bob was an easy-going, hardworking, resourceful and friendly kind of guy. And that’s the way he would want to be remembered. We love and miss you, Bob. Please, rest in peace.
