Obituary For Robert Scott Schlabach

Robert “Scott” Schlabach 67, of Rapid City passed away January 23, 2024 in Rapid City, SD.

Scott was born in Rapid City, SD to Robert and Marion Schlabach on June 29, 1956. Scott attended Rapid City Central High School graduating in 1974. Scott started a career and retired from the Homestake Gold Mines in Lead, SD. After retiring from the mines, he worked various jobs from construction to maintenance to glasswork and welding that he took up as hobbies and really enjoyed. Scott provided wisdom, an ear to listen and/or offer support or guidance when needed and frequently opened his home to others when they needed a place to stay. Scott loved being a grandpa to all little children that were close to him and was a father figure to many, especially his sister’s children, Jessica and Jebidiah, after she passed. Scott had a compassionate, caring and giving heart to most of the people around him. Scott was married and divorced to Conchita P. Leonard.

Scott is survived by his daughter Dawn Onstott and husband Justin Onstott; grandchildren Chaz Lobstein, Mariah Schlabach, Justin Onstott and Levi Onstott; his father, Robert Schlabach; his sister Susan Danielson and husband Lee Danielson; brothers David Schlabach and Marc Schlabach, 10 nieces and nephews; close friends Sean, Wade and Arnie.

Scott was preceded in death by his mother Marion Schlabach, sister Sarah Schlabach, brother James Schlabach and sister Marion Schlabach, maternal grandparents Jim and Myrtle McClure, paternal grandparents Levi and Ethel Schlabach and special friends Lisa Ann Gibbons and Judy Shevlin.
