Obituary For Roger Edward Lauer

Lauer, Roger Edward, 75 died June 1, 2018 at the Black Hills Veteran’s Hospital after losing his battle with colon cancer. He was born January 18, 1943 in Rapid City, SD to Ralph and Eleanor (Kranke) Lauer. He graduated from Rapid City High School in 1961. He then joined the Navy and served as ships photographer on the USS Topeka. He was at the Bay of Tonkin when the Vietnam War started. Roger was very proud of his service to our country. He was briefly married in the 70’s. In 2002, Roger retired from the Denver Water Department after 21 years as a security guard. He moved back to Rapid City in 2003 to be close to his favorite fishing hole.

Roger is survived by his sisters Barbara Lott (Roger) and Judy Houha (John); Uncle to Muriel Bitz, Tanya Field, Melanie Wilson (David), and Jennifer Pennington (Aaron); Grand nieces Cari Kennedy (Tom), Kelli Fox and Kassi Bitz; Great grand nieces and nephews, Maggie, August, Trenton, Layla, Mason, Marissa, and Maddie.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents and many aunts and uncles who influenced his life.
