Obituary For Ronald John Huntley

Ronald J. Huntley, 74, Rapid City, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 15, 2018 at Regional Health Home Plus Hospice. He was born in Santa Monica, California on March 24, 1944 and was the third son of Henry and Edna (Meyers) Huntley.

The best part of Ron’s younger life was spent on a Missouri River Island between South Dakota and Nebraska, homesteaded by his father. In April 1964 Ron married Shirley Tschetter, ‘The Love of his Life”.

Ron worked for the Rapid City Fire Department for 4 years and also the Ellsworth AFB Fire Department for 1 year. He owned Huntley construction for over 40 years.

Ron loved shooting at the Rapid City Trap Club and he and his sons had their own team. He went to Camp Perry for a Trap Shooting match which was a highlight in his life. He also taught shooting fundamentals at the SD National Guard Camp for youth. Ron and his son Jason traveled to New Guinea to put in bridge embankments which saved lives.

Ron always tried to see people by their hearts. . . 1 Samuel 16:7 . . . The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.

Ron is survived by his wife, Shirley, seven children, John (Dawn) Huntley; Justin (Emily) Huntley; Jason (Patricia ) Huntley; Jeremiah Huntley; Jed Huntley; Cindy (Dave) Horton, Dawn (Rich) Vines; 16 grandchildren with #17 on the way; numerous great grandchildren; one sister, Victoria (Gary) Weeks; three brothers, Rodger (Marilyn) Huntley; Chuck (Elsie) Huntley; Steve Huntley and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Jeff Dereck, two Daughters Charity Gina and Kristi Jo, his parents Henry and Edna and one brother Rick.
