Ronald Leslie Brosz, 87, passed away December 20, 2020, at Fort Meade Veterans Hospice unit surrounded by his children and wife, after a short illness.

Ron was born in Ashley North Dakota, and graduated from Ashley High School in 1951. He enlisted in the Navy and served 4 years. Ron married his high school sweetheart Georgia Lee Sayler on July 11, 1954. Ron furthered his education at Northern State Teachers College (Northern State University) in Aberdeen SD, where he attained a Master’s degree(s) in both Education and Music. He began his career as an educator teaching music in Wilmot SD. Ron and Georgia welcomed their teenage nephew, Herb “Junior” Brosz into their home in 1960, and raised him as their own until he went off to college. During that same time he and Georgia adopted their first child, “Rhonda Lee”, in 1962. They then moved to Sisseton, SD where they adopted a second child, “Paul Arthur” in 1964.

Ron taught Music for 12 years before becoming a school Administrator/Principal in various towns across the country including; Zeeland, ND, Sisseton, SD, Pine Ridge, SD, Porcupine, SD and Sanostee, NM. Ron could play all of the musical instruments he taught, and was a very talented musician himself, playing trumpet in the orchestra in College and the Al Hess band on weekends. He loved music of all genres, but big brass bands were his favorite. Each summer Ron and his family would stay at Richmond Lake near Aberdeen, where they would camp and Ron would take courses at Northern to further his education. Ron and Georgia loved the lake area so they eventually bought and ran the Richmond Lake Resort from 1978 – 1980.

In the early 1980’s Ron and Georgia moved to Rapid City where he worked for South Dakota Job Service, helping employ military veterans, and later, ran the day labor office. Ron was a dedicated public servant, helping others fulfill their potential. Ron loved to golf, hunt, fish, camp and bowl. He wasn’t so competitive a person as he was a social person, who loved to engage other people. Ron’s favorite pastime was spending time with his family, especially his children, grandkids and great grandkids. In addition to his loving wife of 66 years - Georgia Brosz of Rapid City, his children - Rhonda (Toft), and her husband Phil Toft of Volga SD, - Paul Brosz of Rapid City, - special nephew Herb Brosz (Jr.) and his wife Patsy Brosz of Aberdeen, he is survived by 5 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
