Obituary For Sandra A. Tucker
Sandra Adele Budrow Connor Tucker was born to Leroy and Olive Budrow in Barre, VT on April 19, 1939, and passed away at the age of 85, on November 19, 2024, in Rapid City, SD, peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Sandy grew up in Vermont with her brother and three sisters. After graduating from Vermont Spaulding High School in 1957, Sandy met Jim Connor, and they were married in 1963. They made their home and started their family in Sturgis, SD and later moved to Rapid City where she spent the remainder of her life. Sandy spent the early years of her children’s life as a homemaker, raising her children. She later went on to work at Mini Mart, the weekly newspaper, The Guide, and eventually the Central States Fair until her retirement. Sandy enjoyed being actively involved in the community and never met a stranger. She was kind to everyone she met and known for making anyone laugh and could light up any room. She served in the Sturgis Jaycettes and was elected president from 1966-1967. She additionally received the Spokette of the year award in 1966. Sandy also enjoyed traveling, and made multiple trips to Europe with her Husband, Jim, and trips all over the country with her grandchildren.
After Jim passed away in 1988, Sandy met Gene Tucker, and they were married in 1990 until his passing in 2011. Sandy and Gene doted over their grandchildren, who were Sandy’s true love. Her grandchildren share some of their fondest memories at their house, playing wiffle ball in the backyard, riding the “big wheel,” and swinging on the porch swing outside. All the grandkids loved their time at Grandma’s house, having her famous spaghetti (which was later discovered to be out of a jar!) and her cookies. She loved to sing “I Love You a Bushel and a Peck” while she rocked them. She and Gene also attended all their grandchildren’s sporting and school events. Even as Alzheimer’s affected her memory, her favorite time was spent with her family.
Sandy was predeceased by her parents, husbands, Jim Connor and Gene Tucker, daughter Heather, brother Norman Budrow, sister Dolores Nardino, stepson Ted Tucker.
She is survived by her children, Tom (Dawn) Connor of Rapid City, Shawn (Sara Brown) Connor of Box Elder, SD.
Grandchildren Zac (Kelsey) Connor, Alex (Lainey) Connor, Molly Connor, Daulton Connor, Emmersyn Crawford
Great Grand Children Kinley & Khloe Connor
