Obituary For Sheryl L. Galligo
Sheryl Lynn Looking Elk (Kuwa a Upi Win) was born on September 17th, 1960 to Reverend Simon and LaVonne Looking Elk in Phoenix, AZ.
Sheryl attended various schools across the US and received her high school diploma in 1978 from Steven's High School in Rapid City, SD.
Sheryl then married and had 2 daughters, Rebecca and Elizabeth.
She loved caring for people. Especially her nieces and nephews. She would always make sure they were happy and knew how loved they were. In return, they would make her drawings, poems, and cards to express how much they adored her and appreciated her love.
She attended Western Dakota Vocational School and she received her Associate degree in Applied Sciences in 1992. Sheryl used her degree in working at Sioux San for many years until her health issues started impacting her ability to work, eventually needing her to focus solely on her health.
It was during these times that she found her calling in ministering the Lord’s Word to those she met while receiving care for her health. Sheryl touched all those who she encountered and shared her Gospel with. She was a bright light in uncertain times for many people.
Sheryl was preceded in death by her father, Reverend Simon Looking Elk, a nephew, Joshua Hatten, and niece, Colleen Romero.
Sheryl is survived by her mother, LaVonne Looking Elk, siblings Talbert (Lora) Looking Elk, Terence Looking Elk, Sheila (Paul) Fanning, and Lisa (Pete) Hatten. She is also survived by her daughters Rebecca Rosser and Elizabeth (Alec) Cliff, grandchildren Angel Galligo, Cydnie Rosser, Jackson Rosser, and Karter Ten Fingers, and a great grandchild Sebashtian Scheeder, along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. With special mentions of her friends who's became sisters Sophia "Cookie" Yellow Robe, Grace Pipe, Annette Satchell, and Ruth Corbett.
