Obituary For Shirley Blanche Burkhart

Shirley Burkhart 88 passed away at Community Hospice in Jacksonville, FL on August 1, 2019. Shirley was born on October 27, 1930 in Genoa, NE to John and Esther Porter. She graduated from Genoa Nebraska High School in 1947. She worked for the state of Nebraska as a secretary in Columbus and at the state capital in Lincoln, NE. On January 8th, 1955 she married Henry Burkhart and they were married for 64 years at the time of her death. She had two sons, Robert Burkhart and Thomas Burkhart who died in infancy. Shirley was devoted to her husband, family and friends. Shirley’s favorite job was as the secretary at the Ellsworth Air Force Base Chapel from 1972 to 1993. She made many lifetime friends and had many warm memories of her time there. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Ethel Mueting and Vera Mae Porter. She is survived by her husband Henry, son Robert, Grandson Andrew Burkhart and granddaughter Brooke Allison Burkhart Shrader, and four great grandchildren.
