Obituary For Sondra J. Hansen

Sondra Jean ‘Sunny’ Hansen, 86, Rapid City, died Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at Good Samaritan-New Underwood, with family at her side.

Sunny was born July 17, 1937, in Flint, Michigan to Elmer and Nevlyn (Rideout) MacAlpine. She grew up In Flint graduating from Davison High School. She married the love of her life, Alois ‘Al’ Hansen on February 15, 1958. They started a family, and she was a stay at home mother for her four children. When the children were old enough, she worked for insurance adjusters for several years.

In 1989, she and Al moved to Columbia, Tennessee and built their dream home and Al finally got his frogs. In 2018, Al took a serious fall and they moved to Rapid City in early 2019. Sunny has always lived up to her nickname with her sunny personality. She made friends everywhere she went and always left people smiling. The staff at Good Samaritan nicknamed her ‘Sunny Sunshine’. She will be missed by many.

Sunny is survived by her children, Kenneth Hansen, Kim (John) Glodt all of Rapid City, Keith Hansen, Columbia, Tennessee, Kelly Okones, Omaha, Nebraska, sister-in-law, Rosalie ‘Karen’ Hansen, Clio, Michigan; 9 grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Al, 4 siblings and her parents who she cared for until their deaths.
