Obituary For Steven Nelson Tapio

Steve Nelson Tapio 72 of Rapid City, SD passed away March 31st, 2025, at his home.

Steve was born in Rapid City, SD to Nelson Tapio and Jean (Cooper) Tapio on January 29th, 1953. He attended school in Rapid City and graduated from Central High School. Steve joined the US army and served his country honorably. He spent several years working as a jeweler in New York and returned home to live and help his mother. Steve worked at Loaf N Jug until he retired. He was a gentle soul that helped others and did not ask for anything in return.

Steve is survived by his brother Galen (Yvonne) Tapio of Rapid City and Sister April Humbracht of Indiana. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Sister Karen and Sister Kelly, Nephew Talis.

Burial service will be held April 17th at 10:00 am at Black Hills National Cemetery 20901 Pleasant Valley Dr. Sturgis, SD followed by a celebration of life at VFW Post 1273 420 Main St. Rapid City.
