Obituary For Tanner Reid Big Eagle

Tanner Big Eagle, 31, of Rapid City, SD lost his valiant fight with cancer on October 4, 2021. Tanner was born on September 8, 1990 in Pierre, SD. He was raised by Ben and Lynn Big Eagle–Stover in Fort Pierre. Tanner attended Stanley County Elementary School. Then moved with his family to Rapid City, where he attended South Middle School, Rapid City Central High School and Jefferson Academy. Tanner received his GED and then attended Lincoln Tech in Denver. Following this he immediately went into the workforce working many different jobs. He became a carpenter by trade finding a passion for post frame construction. He was united in marriage to Meghan Lamb on October 1, 2021. Together the couple had a son, Hunter Big Eagle. Tanner was also the loving father to son, Jayzon Wright and step-son Christian Scheiman. A competitor at heart, Tanner enjoyed his accomplishments as an MMA Fighter. He treasured spending time with his boys, family, and countless friends. Handy, Tanner could fix anything and everything, he loved tinkering with his vehicles. Tanner\'s appreciation of the outdoors was reflected by fishing with the boys and rock hunting. He had a great sense of humor and was always ready to crack a joke when an opportunity presented itself. Tanner also got a kick out of scaring and teasing his brothers. He especially sought out moments that he could heckle Ben. He will be most remembered for his contagious smile and big heart. Tanner will be sorely missed by his wife, Meghan Lamb Big Eagle; children: Christian Scheiman, Hunter Big Eagle, Jayzon Wright; parents: Ben and Lynn Big Eagle - Stover; siblings: Shane (Jessica) Big Eagle, Tame (Sierra) Stover, Nicolette (Jeff) Big Eagle, Aaliyah Stover, Zane Abrahamson, and Dalton (Catie) Onken; grandparents: Jim (Bev) Stover, Gayle (Larry) Stover, Carole Schomberg, Ray Onken, Robert Barnes, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandma, Colleen Big Eagle; Aunt Stephanie Big Eagle; Father Keith Onken and a few close friends. Memorials in Tanner\'s name are suggested to benefit his children. Donations can be sent in care of Shane Big Eagle, P.O. Box 295, Blunt SD, 57522. Monetary donations will be allocated to a trust for Tanner’s three sons.
