Obituary For Thelma M. Petersen
Thelma J. Petersen, 98, of Rapid City, South Dakota passed away on October 26, 2024.
She was born in Corvallis, Oregon to Earl and Bessie James on April 10, 1926.
She went to school in Oral, South Dakota and graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1944. She married Lyle Petersen on August 2, 1947. She worked for Northwestern Bell for many years.
She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and camping with the family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lyle and son Russell.
She is survived by four children, Helen Smith of Omaha, Nebraska; Lucy (Larry) Williamson of Hill City, South Dakota; Richard Petersen of Rapid City, South Dakota and Arlene Payne of Box Elder, South Dakota. Nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Burial will be at Black Hills National Cemetery at a later date.
