Obituary For Theodore J. Kadrlik

Theodore “Ted” Joseph Kadrlik age 73 of Rapid City, SD passed away Wednesday December 13, 2023 at Monument Health Rapid City Hospital, Rapid City, SD surrounded by love. Ted was born July 24, 1950, in Park Falls, WI to John Joseph Kadrlik and Lillian Ann (Stejskal) Kadrlik. He attended school in Butternut Wisconsin. He was drafted during the Vietnam War era serving in the 3006 US Marine Corps Platoon and was stationed in Okinawa Japan. After his honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, he and some childhood friends from Wisconsin moved to Idaho to become loggers. After moving to Idaho, he met Ellen Swensen; they married on December 15, 1972. During his marriage to Ellen, they had 5 daughters together. Ted logged the woods of Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana eventually moving the family to Rapid City, SD in 1986. Ted and Ellen divorced after 25 years of marriage, remaining close friends celebrating together many family milestones, birthdays, and holidays. In 1999, Ted married Jeanie Downs. Together they started Connexo, a trucking company growing from one semi-truck to 5 trucks, traveled the nation, and spending time with their families. Jeanie unfortunately passed away of colon cancer in 2010. After Jeanie’s passing, he met Mildred “Millie” Fauth-Darney with whom he spent the last 13 years of his life, traveling the country, playing cribbage, and spending time with her family which became his family too. Ted is survived by his siblings Jim Kadrlik, Bob (Judy) Kadrlik, Louise (Rick) Smith, Ellen McKittrick, his brother-in-law Roger (Liz) Hollon, sister-in-law, Kathy (John) Kadrlik, and sister-in-law, Sherri (Joe) Kadrlik, his 5 daughters, Stephanie (Devin) Jankord, Jennifer (Terry) Smith, Kimber (Adam) Parkin, Valarie (Matthew) Reinbold, Tedi (Derrick) Pate, 15 grandchildren, Jeanie’s children, Tony (Emilie) Downs, Angie (Eric) Lockridge, although adults when Ted and Jeanie married, Ted loved them like they were his own and remained close to them after Jeanie’s passing, 2 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, his partner of 13 years, Millie Fauth-Darney, her children, Mike (Cathy) Fauth and Tom (Vickie) Fauth, 5 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and Ellen Swensen, former wife but forever friend. Ted was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lillian Kadrlik, sister, Elizabeth “Liz” Hollon, brothers Joseph “Joe” Kadrlik, Richard “Dick” Kadrlik, and John Kadrlik, brother-in-law, Harry McKittrick, granddaughter, Calla Faith Reinbold, wife, Jeanie Downs Kadrlik, and his number one son Baxter, his beloved Boston Terrier.
