Obituary For Thomas Dean Callaway

Thomas Dean Callaway, 59, died on January 23, 2021 in Rapid City, South Dakota. Tom was born on April 5, 1961 to Loretta and Danford in Longmont, Colorado. He grew up in San Bernadino, California and attended school there. On May 17, 1997 his son Tyler was born. On July 19, 1999 he married Karie Callaway. In 2000 he adopted his daughter Destini. He worked for Rapid Packaging for over 35 years, until he was diagnosed with MSA in 2020. Tom loved spending time with his kids and always made sure they had everything they needed and made sure they knew how loved they were. Fishing was his favorite hobby. There was no such thing as a bad day for a fishing trip. He loved to take Tyler out and spend time on the shores of Stockade fishing all day or at Center Lake, camping at spot 67, spending the nights by the fire. He loved to read what Destini had to write, and always encouraged her to continue her hobby and write stories. He enjoyed spending time at home and spoiling the weiner dog Luci. Tom was such a generous, kind, loving human who wouldn’t hesitate to offer a helping hand or listening ear. He loved a cup of coffee, day or night, it was just right. He is very loved and will be greatly missed. He is preceded in death by his mother, Loretta Rose, and father, Danford Callaway. He is survived by his son Tyler, daughter Destini, step-son Joshua Schumacher, step-son at heart Joshua Dotson, best friend Karie, brothers Scotty and Jamie, sister Kathy, and all his nieces, nephews, cousins, and family friends.
