After a long struggle with cancer Timothy J Kellar passed away June 28th at Rapid City Hospice House surrounded by family. Tim was a loving husband, father, son, brother, friend, and all around good person. He always cared for others, whether a family member or friend he would go out of his way to help when needed. He always visited his mother Cleone Bruggeman (Kellar) on Sundays for a chat and cup of coffee before he was no longer able to drive. He would go out of his way to do his best he could for his brother and sisters’, Jon (Ann) Kellar, Jane Kellar, and Cindy (Rik Wakeman) Kellar. If they needed something he would be there.

He was a devoted husband for 32 years, married to Teresa Dowdy. They fell in love at the young age and began working to give their girls the best life they could. He was a loving father for 32 years, of four beautiful girls. He handled all of their emotions, tears, and teenage girl drama ,and there was drama, without a flinch of the brow. His daughter Jennifer (Alejandro) Desa enjoyed his life lessons, his daughter Emily (Andrew) Lessin remembers his encouraging words when most needed, his daughter Hanna (Kory) Knottnerus loved working in the garage with him and fixing their motorcycles up together, and his daughter Phoebe Kellar loves to remember how he was a hardworking man who went out to make a good future for his kids every day, and still had time to spend with his family. Prior to getting sick he was very active. He took up a new hobby of kayaking after getting it as a gift for father’s day. He also talked of getting a camper and going up to the lake more often.

He loved to spend time in the great outdoors camping, boating and riding his motorcycle. He was always the grill master at family picnics, whether it was one hosted at his house or one attended at a friend’s house. One of our fondest memories of him will be how much time he spent in his garage working on cars and various projects.

He always put his best foot forward and gave it his all when it came to work. Following in the footsteps of his father, he became an electrician. He even went as far to run the family business Checker Electric for a while, before selling it. Other than a brief stint, working close to Aspen Colorado as an electrician, he lived in Rapid City S.D. all of his life. Finally he landed at Dakota Supply Group, where he had hoped to retire from. He made a lot of close friends while working at Dakota Supply Group.

He was a fighter, he didn’t always show it, but he demonstrated it every day over course of the last year, as he worked in times of weakness to make things as easy as possible for those left behind. He is finally at peace with the Lord resting with his father James Kellar and his brother Jay Kellar.
