Obituary For Virginia L. Reidt

Virginia Lee (Finney) Reidt, 86, Caputa, died Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Clarkson Mt. View Health Care facility. She was born June 27, 1937, to Florence (Wakefield) and Theodore \"Ted\" Finney on their farm outside Faulkton, South Dakota. Virginia attended school and graduated from Faulkton Public High School. She attended Northern State Teachers College (NSTC) in Aberdeen South Dakota, receiving a business certificate.

After graduating from NSTC, she worked full time at the ASC office in Faulkton and waitressed part time at the local cafe. Virginia married Floyd William Reidt on August 23, 1959. They farmed near Onaka, South Dakota, on a grain, stock cattle and dairy operation, in partnership with Floyd\'s brother Verne and wife Lorraine for many years. In 1995, Virgina and Floyd moved to a small ranch near Caputa, South Dakota.

Virginia over her life wore many hats. With her warm, outgoing personality and her \"get it done attitude\" she was a farmer/rancher’s wife, bookkeeper at different business\'s, home business entrepreneur (Park Lane Jewelry, Home Interiors, Norwex) and a \"natural\" saleswoman in an art gallery in downtown Rapid City. Virginia was always willing to lend a helping hand to a friend, neighbor, and her community. She served as 4-H Leader, statewide exchange student coordinator, and on various church boards.

Virgina loved to travel with family, friends, and by herself. Her adventures took her to all fifty states, Canada, Mexico, Australia, and New Zealand. She collected dolphins and was a skilled seamstress and quilter. She always had time to attend activities for her children, grand and great grandchildren. Virginia loved gatherings of family and friends and hosted many parties and events over her years. \"Gramm\'s\" as she was known by her grand and great grandchildren, was an honest, loving, incredible woman who will be missed by family and friends.

Virgina is survived by her daughter Linda and family, Glenn Kilber, and son Broc of Rapid City; her grandson, Stephen Kilber and family, Danae (Gallimore), sons Seamus, Cyrus, and Ryker of Rapid City; daughter Kay and family, daughter Claudia Jean \"CJ\" and Jonathan Laurence of Rapid City; her sister, Dorothy Mitzel of Rapid City; numerous nieces and nephews as well as a multitude of friends.

Linda and Kay would like to say \"Thank You\" to friends and family for your loving support, kind words, and memories of Virginia shared with us. We greatly appreciate your presence in Mom\'s life.

In lieu of flowers, her family would prefer memorials to Clarkson Mt. View Health Care or the Caputa Community Center.

Condolences may be conveyed to the family at the guestbook tab above this obituary . The funeral will also be live streamed and you may watch just below this obituary.
