Obituary For William Carl Crawford

It is with great sadness that the family of William (Bill) Crawford announces his passing on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at the age of 91 years.

Bill was born in Sheridan, Wyoming to Charles and Gladys Crawford. His family moved to Rapid City, SD in 1927. He graduated from Rapid City High School in 1944. After graduation, he joined the US Navy and was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1946 as a Radioman 3rd Class. He then attended the South Dakota School of Mines and graduated with a degree in Geological Engineering in 1951. While attending the School of Mines, he met and married the love of his life, Lois Carsner.

Bill’s career began as an engineering draftsman at Ellsworth Air Force Base. After 32 years, he retired as the Chief of Engineering at Ellsworth Air Force Base in 1982.

Bill and Lois moved to Fountain Hills, Arizona in 1984 where they enjoyed spending their time traveling, golfing and playing cards with family and friends.

Bill was a lifetime member of the Rushmore VFW post 1273 and the Elks Lodge 335, Phoenix, Arizona.

Bill will be lovingly remembered by his children, Dottie Olson (Dale), Bruce Crawford (Kathy), Roger Crawford (Sherree) and Wade Crawford and his 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home on July 21, 2018 at 11:00 am. Burial will be at the Black Hills National Cemetery on July 23, 2018 at 10:00 am.
